What do you think of when someone says good content?

Something free from spelling mistakes? Something that has nailed the correct uses of there, their and they’re? Or even something that is written in a way that you can clearly understand?

Well it is all of those things, but it is also far more than that. Good content is one of the most important tools in your business. Here’s why…

Why Good Content Is One Of Your Most Important Tools

Good Content Sells

Your content should tell a story that is so enchanting that your readers cannot resist what you have to say. Your words should be persuasive and compel your readers to take action. When you are in business you need to make sales, it is a fact. And no matter how uncomfortable you feel about sales, you have to create opportunities for your audience to buy from you.

Good content gives you the opportunity to do this. It doesn’t have to be a hard sell. In fact, one of the best ways to go for the sale is to create a great blog, newsletter piece, or article that talks about a specific problem. You can then position your business as the solution and for those that are ready to buy, whipping out their credit card is a logical choice.

Suddenly, by highlighting the benefits of the product or service and how it will make life so much easier for whoever buys it, you can transform a standard thing into a must-have for your audience.

Create A Bond With Your Audience

It is much easier to connect with a person than it is to connect with a corporation. You can use your content to build a great relationship with your audience.

Answer their questions, acknowledge their needs, address their concerns, and solve their problems with blogs, FAQs, How-Tos, video footage, webinars and freebie resources. Not all content should be about selling, in fact, very little of it should be aimed at a hard sell. Remember that you are trying to build a relationship of trust, so always try to deliver value.

It is far easier to service your current audience then it is to constantly search for a new one. So listen to what your readers have to say through their feedback and questions. Then, respond in a valuable way to nurture that relationship.

It Makes You Powerful And Unique

When you are bombarded with mediocre and spammy messages all day, good content stands out in comparison. You can use a compelling story to show you are not spam, and to build confidence in your brand. Dispel those preconceived negative opinions by truly getting people to sit up and listen to what you have to say.

You can also use good content as a point of difference to your competitors. People buy into your business to work with you as much as they buy what you sell. If you can create a buzz around your business with your values and what you stand for, then you will draw people to you. There are probably many people in your industry that do the same thing you do, but your customers and clients will choose to return to your business to work with you.

Why It All Matters

Well written content can be a game changer for your business. If you become known for it, then people will be drawn to your business to learn from you. They will see you as a true expert in your field and when they have a need for your products and services, you will be an obvious choice.

By using great content in your blogs, on your social media pages, in your newsletters, and your marketing material, you will build a tribe of loyal followers. Not only will they choose your business, but they will refer their contacts to you also. And as you know, word of mouth referrals are some of the most powerful leads you can get!
