So, how often should I blog?

This is one of the most common questions that I get asked. And there is no exact answer. There is no rule that says if you blog once, twice, or ten times a month then you will instantly get sales.

You should blog as often as you can manage it. What I mean by that is that you should set a realistic target that you can manage to stick to. Here is what you should consider…

How Often Should I Blog: The Considerations

Be Consistent

It is really important to be consistent with your blogging for lots of reasons. Here are some of them…

SEO: Every time you add a blog to your website, it is another chance for your website to be found by Google and other search engines. Your website will be ranked higher in those search results if you regularly update it with fresh blog content.

Social Media Content: Just as it is important to update your website regularly, it is also important to post on our social media pages regularly. Regular blog content gives you consistent material for your social media pages and an opportunity to get your blog seen by many audiences.

Reader Expectations: If you are regularly producing valuable content, your readers will grow to expect a post from you. They will return to your site just to read your new blog. This will increase their trust on your brand and increase the chance they will purchase from you.

Time Commitments

There are only so many hours in the day, you can’t make any more (as much as you wish you could). So, you need to use those hours as wisely as you can.

Because it is important to be consistent, you need to work out how many blogs you can manage in a month. Have a look at your schedule and work out what you can commit to and stick to it.

If that means one blog a month, then great. If it means more, then that is great too. You can always increase the amount you blog further down the track if you find you can do more.

The one thing to keep in mind is the quality of the post. Quality matters above everything else. People will not return to read your material if they don’t gain any value from it. That does not mean that every blog you post needs to be a literary masterpiece. If you try to make it absolutely perfect you will waste time and energy. You might spend so much time trying to perfect it, that the blog never even gets published.

So, balancing the time commitment with the quality of your work is really vital.

Interest Levels

Don’t let your blogging become a chore. If you are bored when you are writing it, then you can be darn sure your readers will be bored reading it.

Blogging is an important part of your marketing strategy, so try not to lose your passion for it. If you aren’t feeling it, even if it is your scheduled writing time, come back to it another day. You will produce far better content when you are interested and engaged while creating.

Asking the question of how often should I blog is like asking how long is a piece of string. There is no definitive answer. You need to work out a blogging schedule that works for you. Just make sure that you can keep it up consistently to deliver great content to your expectant readers.
